Within a short time, humans have been reduced to pockets of resistance, scavenging materials (including alien ones) wherever they could. With the terraforming (which leeched heat from the Earth), it became much easier for the aliens to raise towers anywhere they want. Indubitably, the humans could not fight climate change as they could alien invasions.

Yet, this has only delayed the inevitable the vanguard has been defeated, but the main body of the invaders arrived three years later and crushed whatever resistance was left. Due to their highly metallic bodies and noticeable use of power cabling, they were dubbed the “Machines”.Īs to be expected of typical alien invasion stories, humanity rallied and fought them back. Within mere moments, they can overwhelm cities by riddling it with towers that kill anything not-alien that moves.

Instead of putting feet on the ground, they raise edifices that are armed with powerful weaponry instead. In the events of the previous game and its expansion, alien machines had invaded Earth. It would not be a surprise that some of the assets in this game would later be used in Frostpunk. That game has a considerable enough following that it had an expansion, and eventually a sequel. Billing itself as a “tower offence” game, the first Anomaly had the player directing a wave of mooks, taking down towers as quickly as possible before they are destroyed in turn.
